YO ho ho, me hearties! It was all hands on deck as more than 100 pint-sized pirates and staff climbed aboard the good ship Petersfield on Tuesday for a spell of life on the high seas.

Children from the four reception classes at Petersfield Infant School dressed up for the special Pirate Day and took part in a special assembly and a variety of activities which included singing, dancing, making telescopes, a treasure hunt around the school, and biscuit making.

Children also painted their own wanted posters and drew up treasure maps during the fun day which is part of the St Peter's Road school's term topic on the sea.

Organiser Sue Towney, the school's reception year leader, said: "There were lots of earrings and cutlasses and it was a fantastic day thoroughly enjoyed by children and the staff."
