PUPILS are pulling up their sleeves while eying up their next target, as Hale School in Farnham introduce archery as a new extra-curricular activity.
Deputy headteacher Ann Wheeler said: “It is a band new club which started in the December term, it is being run just for this term as a trial and if it is successful we will continue it in the spring as well.
“We currently have 30 children signed up (aged two to six) which is the maximum we can have. We can’t have it on our normal curriculum because of what it involves, the expensive equipment and you need trained instructors to teach it.
“So because we can’t offer it we decided to do it as an extra circular activity. It is hugely popular with the children. It is organised by a company called Judo Education, and led by Justin who visits every Tuesday for one hour after school.”
