YOUNG footballers from Petersfield were among a group of individuals and teams from across the district who have had their sporting talent or involvement in sport recognised.

The occasion was the annual East Hampshire Sports Awards at Old Thorns Manor Hotel Golf & Country Estate at Griggs Green near Liphook, which was hosted by regional television presenter and personality Fred Dinenage and featured an appearance from special guest Roger Black, the 400m runner who pickecd up two silver medals at the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996, who handed out the prizes as well as giving an inspirational speech.

The footballers (above) were representing the Petersfield Town Juniors Under-12s Phantom Whites who were nominated in the junior team of the year category. To find out how they got on, and for full story and results, see next week’s Petersfield Herald.
