Sirs, – Over the past few months I have noticed a tendency to denounce the young people of Farnham for everything from dropping litter through to vandalism.

I live close to the college and thus have direct experience of the activities of local young people, rather than some of the more vague prejudices that we are usually treated to through these pages. There is no graffiti on my walls. There is no litter strewing the streets. I can walk around at night without fear of attack. No youths loiter with intent playing loud music wearing unsuitable clothing.

Indeed, only yesterday, I received a note through my door from a local neighbourhood youth apologising for any inconvenience that may be caused by music from an upcoming party.

Come on, Ye Angry Letter Writers of Farnham – let's get some perspective here – let's not dismiss this group of people so readily. They're far too easy a target.
