POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an assault on a young boy by a group of older youths. The incident occurred at 4 pm last Thursday when a 12-year-old boy was walking in the woods behind Weyford Junior School Playing Field. Six youths aged between 15-17 and wearing hooded jackets appeared. As he was passing the boy, one of the youths lit an aerosol can with a lighter and sprayed him, causing superficial burns to his left hand and severe burns to his thumb. The youths ran off into the field that goes into Jubilee Park. The boy did not know any of the youths. • Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact Pc Ray at Whitehill Police.
