TWO Aldershot, Farnham & District AC runners set Surrey Championship best performances, both in the 1500 metres.

Eugenie Cockle, defending champion in the under-17 women’s race, recorded 4mins 31.23secs and Luke van Oudtshoorn posted new figures of 4mins 14.86secs in the U15 boys’ event.

Other AFD winners at Kingston were Ed Henderson (U13 boys’ 800), Megan Aitchison (senior women’s 800), Niamh Brown (U20 women’s 1500) and Nancy Scott (U20 women’s 3000).

The Hampshire Championships took place at Portsmouth and two AFD athletes achieved doubles.

Maisie Grice took the U17 women’s steeplechase before defending her 800 metres title the following day, while Harry Hyde won the U13 boys’ 800 a day after his victory in the 200.

Four other club members also retained titles: Tim Snook (U20 men’s walk), Chris Snook (U17 men’s walk), Evie Grice (U20 women’s 400) and Sue Davies with her fourth consecutive gold medal in the walk.

Joe Wade regained the senior men’s steeplechase crown, Jack Boswell, last year’s U17 champion, won the U20 men’s 3000 and Alex Knight, the U13 champion two seasons ago, secured the U15 boys’ 200.

There were also victories for Danny Davis (senior men’s 1500), Joe Parker (U20 men’s javelin), Nicholas Hart (U15 boys’ walk), Ryan Martin (U13 boys’ 1500), Sofie Kent (senior women’s 1500), Tilly Horton (U17 women’s 1500), Stacey Burrows (U17 women’s 3000) and Ava Ritchie (U13 girls’ javelin).
