ALPHA Trampoline Club (Alton) members were in action at the English Championships qualifier in Bath.

The qualifier was a chance for gymnasts to compete at the highest level and try to earn themselves a place at the English Championships in Sheffield next October.

Alpha had four gymnasts taking part in the double-mini trampoline, with two also competing in trampoline.

Gemma Stokes had made a huge step-up from regional level at the start of the year, competing in both trampoline and double-mini trampoline at the English silver level.

Competing in the 9-12 DMT group, she completed her preliminary passes in a creditable 11th place. On trampoline, she had massively expanded her skill set to even be eligible to compete at the event and finished two routines nicely to earn 26th place.

Tivon Dillner had also advanced from a lower regional level in double-mini at the beginning of the year to compete in the 13-16 silver event. He completed his preliminary passes brilliantly, finishing in fourth place and going through to the final. After an uncharacteristic mistake on his final pass, he finished sixth overall – a fine achievement.

Also in action in the girls’ 13-16 silver DMT event was Molly Loveridge. Again, two solid and high-scoring execution passes saw her finish seventh, just one spot outside the final.

The highlight of the weekend for Alpha came from Robert Hamilton who was competing in both disciplines. He took part in the 17-18 silver trampoline on the Saturday, earning a place in the final with two excellent routines. His final routine was a step-up and earned him the gold medal.

He was also in action on the Sunday in the top tier of DMT, competing in the men’s senior gold event. This was Robert’s first appearance at senior level, but he handled the pressure and the competition fantastically well.

With four fine passes, he came top of the leaderboard and finished the weekend as a double gold medallist.

The event was a memorable experience for the Alpha gymnasts and their superb results should stand them in good stead for a place at the English Championships later this year.
