THE weather was fine for the Overton five-mile race and Alton Runners also appreciated the start being about three-quarters of a mile from the finish, giving the opportunity for a nice warm-up ahead of the Hampshire Road Race League opener.
Their first member to finish was Philip Scrase in a time of 35mins 17secs, giving him 126th place in the men’s race.
The first Alton lady home was Vanessa Lowe in 35-45 and she came a creditable 28th in the women’s event.

The ladies’ A finished seventh in the A Division Two, while the men’s A came third in the A Division?Three. In the B league, the Alton ladies came fourth in Division Two and the men ninth in Division Two.
