IT took a long time coming, but Farnborough Tennis D broke their duck in the Aldershot Table Tennis League Division One with a 6-4 win and then, just like buses, another 6-4 success followed.
The first was against Ash A and included a Hudson Foley maximum, while Dave Halfpenny bagged a brace for Ash. Against Frimley A, Michael Kwan was the hat-trick hero and Foley supported with a pair. Nigel Oh won two for Frimley.
League leaders Central A hammered their B team 9-1, with both Phil Snelson and Paul Baker undefeated. Peter Millard supported with two wins.
Nearest rivals Bentley A matched this result with a 9-1 victory over Frimley A. Andy Mudie and Micky Lang both recorded maximums and team-mate Graham Diplock won twice.
In Division Two, no favours were being extended to relegation-threatened Frimley B by their C clubmates. Andy Griffiths and Peter Farrelly were both unbeaten in the 8-2 victory.
Ash C edged past Bentley B 6-4, but it was Paul Farrant who took the honours with a treble for the losers. Frank Winnard and Chris Carter won two apiece for Ash. Cody A beat doomed Braybrooke A 9-1, with Keith Russell and Dave Stenning recording maximums and Phil Russell taking two. This result confirmed Braybrooke’s relegation.
Division Three strugglers Ash D picked up a welcome 6-4 win at Crawley Ridge A. Terry French won all three for Ash and Dave Brown supported with a pair. Ken Thompson won twice for Crawley Ridge.
Tennis G and Cody D shared the points. Dean Hewitt secured a maximum for Cody and Charles Burton and Tushar Vaja each won two in response.
The promotion picture in Division Four is clearer after Crawley Ridge B beat Tennis H 8-2. Phil Garrett was the star performer with a full house and David Skellern and Richard Hornby won two apiece, both losing to Martin Evans.
Tennis J kept up the pressure by whitewashing Cody F. Peter Bone, John Page and Mehrdad Abutalebi were the victorious team.
Braybrooke B beat Ash J 9-1. Kenny Duarte and Sandra Jackson each won all three and Malcolm Codd claimed a double. Ash F beat a two-man Ash H 7-3, with John Hutchinson and Janet Guess both unbeaten.
