BENTLEY A clinched the Aldershot Table Tennis League Division One title in style by inflicting a first defeat of the season on Central B.

Andy Mudie and Steve French both scored maximums in the 8-2 victory and Bentley will now be aiming for the league and cup double.

Central B have two matches left in which to overhaul their second-placed A team who completed their fixtures with a 7-3 win over Tennis B.

Phil Snelson notched up a treble and Dennis Perrett (Central) and Paul Myers (Tennis) won two apiece.

Ash B will finish in the bottom two after being whitewashed by Cody A. Sean Pickin, Peter Anthony and Keith Russell administered the coup de grâce.

Ash A overcame Frimley A 8-2 to ensure their survival in the top flight. Nick Mills and Dave Halfpenny were both unbeaten.

David Joyce and Lawrence Dack were unbeaten for Fleet A who beat Ash C 7-3 in Division Two.

Broadmoor A and Bentley B shared the points and remain in the promotion race. Robin Street won three for Bentley and Tony Gabriel claimed a useful double for Broadmoor.

Frimley B moved out of the bottom two after beating Tennis E 6-4. Quang Le claimed a full house for Frimley.

In Division Three, Ash F beat Frimley D 6-4, but it was not enough to save them from relegation. Karim Lawji was unbeaten for Ash.

Although they lost 6-4 to Cody D, Tennis G moved out of the bottom two. Bob Fenner was unbeaten for Cody and Martin Evans won twice for Tennis.

Cody E are almost certain to finish top of Division Four, despite losing 6-4 to Ash G. Bob Murrell took a maximum for Ash and Ray Mears won two, as did Kim Phillips for Cody.

Crawley Ridge B beat Ash K 8-2 to strengthen their claim for second place. Peter Greenwood-Sleep was the star performer with a maximum. Richard Pape and Richard Hornby won twice in support, both succumbing to Ash’s Stuart Wickham.
