CHAWTON Park men, looking to consolidate their top position in the Bramley Bowl League, were unceremoniously toppled by second-placed Palmerston.
Dave Atwell’s rink managed a consolation draw in a disappointing 63-86 defeat.
It was a different tale for Chawton Park ladies in the Riversmeet League against Victory IBC. Chawton led from start to finish and were always in control, running out overall winners by 88 shots to 62.
The rinks led by Brenda Plumpton and Margaret Holden dominated throughout and were both comfortable winners.
Margaret Leppard’s rink, trailing by nine shots at 10 ends, fought back to 16-16 by 18 ends, only to slip to a one-shot defeat. The Beryl Collier rink led by eight at 15 ends, but failed to register over the last six ends and went down by four shots.
Gary Johnson defeated Terry Cull in the National O60s singles, but the score did not tell the full story.
Margaret Holden and Adam White reached the mixed pairs area quarter-finals with a convincing 20-4 win over Liz Russell and Pat Lawson from Atherley.
There was no joy for Terry Cull and Derek Ham, beaten 19-9 at Banister Park, while Adam White had walkovers in the National singles and mixed fours competitions.
Chawton registered comfortable wins in the friendly matches against Rowledge BC and Rushmoor IBC.
