FRENSHAM RBL Bowls Club closed the season on Sunday with an interesting internal match, with teams drawn out of a hat, mixing bowlers new and old playing out of their comfort zones.

Chris Plant skipped on his 85th birthday and his team fought back well to win by one shot on the last end against fellow veteran John Hawkins. Newcomer Les Trusler led 21-7 at tea, but the teams were re-arranged after the break and vice-captain Ron Sibbick went down by just three shots.

In the rinks game, Team Blue made two substitutions after leading at tea and lost a thriller by one shot.

A splendid tea was overseen by Molly Sibbick and a ‘spider’ was won by Chris Bonner. The money raised will go to Hounds for Heroes, the club’s designated charity.
