ALDERSHOT TOWN 1, NORTHAMPTON TOWN 2
ONCE again cast into the midst of a winter wonderland, Aldershot's impressive endeavours at ensuring this game went ahead on Tuesday night received scant reward and only served to put them back on a slippery slope near the bottom of the table.
Groundsman Andy Nunn, assisted by a band of volunteers, including suspended striker Danny Hylton, and leaf blowers to clear snow from pitch markings which were repainted with red dye to maximise visibility, persuaded referee Darren Deadman to allow the game to go ahead after several inspections.
And the Shots initially suggested they might defy both the conditions and Northampton's exalted league position to prolong their unbeaten run.
But after taking the lead during a dominant opening spell, Aldershot faded badly.
