ALTON might be struggling in the league, but they have an appearance at the Ageas Bowl to look forward to after beating Hook & Newnham Basics in their T20 Cup semi-final replay on Sunday.

Hook arrived fresh from beating Basingstoke in the morning to win the Guy Jewel Trophy. They chose to bowl first, but found themselves having to chase 144 after a brilliant 67 not out off 59 balls from opener Alex Hammond.

All the Alton bowlers were successful as the Division One side slumped to 55-7 in reply. Tom Paul, Jack Myers and Toby Salmon finished the job and the Basics were all out for 91.

Alton will meet Premier Division leaders Havant in the final on September 10. More details to follow.
