ALEX Bertola, the former Hindhead all-rounder, made a forceful debut for his new club, helping Blackheath II to a fine win over promoted Brook in I’Anson Division Three.
Bertola (3-45 off 14 overs) struck in the first over, but Paul Challinor (51) led a fine recovery and Brook reached 182-9 after 45 overs.
Ian Milton then anchored the Blackheath innings with 67. After a mini collapse, Ronny Harrison and Matt Burch made 32 apiece. Finally, Bertola brought the game to a swift conclusion, hitting two sixes and two fours in his 32 not out.
Bramley seamer Andy Robertson (7-30 in 14 overs) reduced Tilford II to 56-7 before Adrian Walker and the tail, plus 37 extras, took the visitors to a more competitive 113.
Bramley made a stuttering start and despite Nick Hyett’s fluent 31, were 66-5 at one stage, with Ben Matthews taking 3 for 21. But Ali Holmes was having none of it and his fine 40 set up a three-wicket win for the home side.
A powerful Frensham III marked their return to Division Three by thumping Grayshott III in the battle of the 3rd XIs. New skipper Alex Peers opted to bat first and James Frost missed a century by just two runs on his Frensham debut. His forceful partnership with Nick Green (46) ensured a large total, but Julian Oosthuizen picked up 5 for 38 and the home side were bowled out for 211.
Fenton Ramsahoye, when he had warmed up, decimated Grayshott’s middle order with 5 for 14 and Grayshott tumbled to 75 all out in 28 overs.
First to reach an I’Anson century this season was Thursley’s durable Steve Fuller who hit 100 not out, including three sixes, at Peper Harow. Tayab (48) gave fine support and Thursley declared at 235-8 after 45 overs.
Peper Harow batted with great determination in reply and an excellent 86 from opener Glenn Taylor, well supported by skipper Max Morris (30), steered them to two points at 155-8.
Tongham beat Wood Street in a close, low-scoring game. Dan Saunders made a good 36 for Wood Street on a soft wicket, but there was a steady flow of wickets, with Liam Gadd taking 4 for 14 off ten overs.
Opener Adam Farrier scored an important 25 for Tongham and the middle order chipped in, but Jake Slyfield kept the result in the balance by taking 5 for 39 in 13.1 overs. James Moyle eventually hit the winning runs in the 30th over.
