WOOD Street, relegated last season, got their first I’Anson Division Three points on the board with a good win over Frensham III.
Jake Slyfield (3-38) ripped through Frensham’s top order after Wood Street had won the toss, but an excellent, unbroken sixth-wicket partnership between Charlie Pamment (69 not out) and John Wallis (30 not out) rescued the visitors and they posted a decent 146-5.
Wood Street started well enough, with Dan Saunders (26) setting the platform for a run-chase. However, Richard Champneys (4-39), supported by Andy Kamm and the impressive young Joe Toft, bowled Frensham back into the match. Slyfield and skipper Josh Dobson played important innings, but ‘Extras’ top-scored with 33 as Wood Street reached their target with four overs to spare.
Brook bounced back from their opening-day loss and collected maximum points against Bramley. Invited to bat, Brook amassed 251-8 declared, thanks largely to a 110-ball 116 from Ed Bishop who hit 17 fours. Robin Hudson weighed in with a swift 55 as the Bramley bowlers suffered.
Ed Katzler (5-46) and Paul Challinor (4-25) reduced the visitors to 67-6 before the late order mounted a recovery, led by Dan Burstow (33). But Brook would not be denied and Bramley were dismissed for 138.
Grayshott III, playing at their new Broxhead Common home, beat Dogmersfield II by six wickets. Dogmersfield posted 127 (K Subhani 36) after being put in and Grayshott made light work of the target, thanks to two good partnerships – first by openers Rob Ward and Tom Part and then by Joe Brunwin (32 not out) and Luke McBain (33 not out).
Blackheath II batted consistently after being inserted by Tilford II and the visitors posted a healthy 214-6 in 45 overs. Richard Gray top-scored with 77, well supported by Ian Nolan (44), Matt Burch (32) and Chris Lewis (24 not out).
Tilford were never up with the run-rate, but never looked like losing, thanks to an unbroken fifth-wicket stand between Johnny Barran (69 not out) and veteran Adrian Walker (38 not out). Tilford finished on 165-4.
