Grayshott Strikers produced a fine performance to beat Farnham in their penultimate match of the I’Anson Women’s Group A softball season.

For possibly the first time this season the Strikers won the toss, and elected to field.

Bowling duties were split among the players, with everyone taking two overs each.

It was a great bowling and fielding display, with particular mention to Sophie for her economy of two and Lisa, who bowled a wicket maiden.

The Strikers were tight in the field, stopping boundaries and singles, and some great teamwork meant they claimed six wickets as Farnham finished on a net score of 251.

After a quick break, the Strikers went into bat. First pair Sonia and Jenny, batting together for the first time, opened the scoring with 21 without loss, including Jenny’s first boundary.

Next up, Patsy and Charlie B added 24 without loss, putting the Strikers in a great position as the third pair went into bat.

Lisa and Sophie, batting together for the first time, added a whopping 36 which included a rather special reverse sweep from Lisa, who had seen it at the T20 the previous day and was determined to try it – and getting a boundary for her efforts!

Last pair Trace and Al were determined not to get out and undo all the great work so far, and they achieved a score of 41, without loss.

The Strikers finished on a net score of 339 – their highest of the season!

Alexandra Grant said: “Huge congrats to the Strikers and to player of the match Lisa for her epic reverse sweep and her bowling expertise to achieve a wicket maiden.

“One of the team’s smallest supporters was very proud of his great auntie!

“A big thank you from the team to Mark for his expert umpiring skills and to everyone who came along and supported.

“The Strikers will be in action for the last time, away to Grayswood Harriers, on Sunday week.”
