I’ANSON Division Three leaders Tilford II recorded their 11th victory in 13 matches, while Wood Street consolidated second place with an easy win over Headley II.
Grayswood II have been steadily improving, but after a solid start by Tom White (24) and Chris Locke (41) failed to get enough runs to seriously test Tilford II. Jack Cantwell was the most effective bowler, taking 4-35 in 14 overs, well supported by Martin Knott.
Tejas Gandhi (2-28 in 14 overs) bowled particularly well for Grayswood, but Chris Wilson and Henry Bate set a solid platform. Wilson was out for 55 and Hamish Macdonald (40 not out) finished the job in the 38th over
Bramley beat a weakened Blackheath II and leapfrogged them into third place. Opener Ali Holmes scored a fine 100 for Bramley and with Henry Turner (43) and Nick Hyett (51) also in the runs, the home side declared at 221-5 after 45 overs.
Blackheath’s battling youngsters were bowled out for 71. James Money cashed in to take 5-15 in 10.1 overs.
Headley II, put in at Wood Street, were knocked over for 66 on a testing wicket. Jacob Slyfield was a real handful, taking 5-18 in 11 overs, and only Bill Ray managed to reach 20.
Wood Street needed 23 overs to get the runs for the loss of three wickets, opener Josh Dobson digging in to make 40.
Bowlers were certainly on top in the match between Puttenham II and Kingsley. Puttenham were dismissed for 48 and no-one came to terms with the bowling of Nick Randall who returned figures of 14-8-7-5.
But Kingsley flirted with defeat themselves against Paul Crouch and Ben Plant, both bowling unchanged, and Randall and Paul Boxford had to bat carefully to made sure of a two-wicket victory.
Dogmersfield II amassed 214-7 in 40 overs, with Raja (83) and A Raza (44) sharing a hard-hitting partnership.
Peper Harow began badly, but Imran Channa (40) and Steve Bradley (27), plus 44 extras, made the score respectable. The visitors were all out for 161.
Milford remain second from bottom after losing to Grayshott III by 66 runs at Broxhead. Grayshott recovered from 29-3 to 177-9 in 45 overs, thanks to good innings from skipper Cameron Oosthuizen (45) and the lower middle order of Toby Joyce (24), Barrie Owen (33) and Ross Owen (39 not out).
Milford started well enough, but Gordon Gwilliam’s dismissal for 29 signalled a collapse to Charles Brayshaw (5-16) and the visitors were all out for 111.
