BROOK pressed home their claim for another promotion by beating Frensham III in I’Anson Division Three.
Tilford II got the thin end of a draw away to Dogmersfield II, while Thursley – also pushing for promotion, came unstuck at Bramley.
The seasoned Martin Breddy and up-and-coming Ben Harrison gave Frensham III a fine start and the visitors were 100-2 at one stage. However, Brook plugged away and Frensham were bowled out for 149 in 42 overs. Brook were 61-4 after a shaky start, but Robin Hudson played another excellent innings and his 87 not out steered his side to victory in 29 overs.
The high-scoring draw between Dogmersfield II and Tilford II featured two fine innings. Opener M Khan made 82 out of Dogmersfield’s 230-8 in 45 overs, while Tilford’s Gavin Nesbitt rolled back the year with 82, also at the top of the order. The visitors replied with 190-8. Young Alex Beard bowled a good spell for Tilford, taking 3-27 in nine overs.
Aaron Smallbone top-scored with 38 for Thursley who were bowled out for 185. Bramley, left plenty of overs, won quite comfortably, thanks to a fine 65 not out from Steve Riley.
Kingsley need another late surge of form to get themselves out of trouble after losing for the seventh time in ten games. Their total of 160 (Nick Randall 38, Matt Cooper 33, Sam Parrott 30) looked competitive, but Grayshott III had a powerful line-up and made the run-chase look easy. Openers Neil Moseley and Nathan Phillimore made 41 apiece and Luke McBain contributed 34 as the visitors won by six wickets.
Peper Harow beat Wood Street to move further away from the bottom two. Only Liam Binfield (36) got going as Wood Street were bowled out for 110. Glenn Taylor (35) and Sunny Mahey took Peper Harow to 69 without loss before Hamish Chudley (3-9) and Henry Vincent cause a collapse. Skipper Steve Bradley steered his side home.
Tongham ran up another big total, but didn’t leave themselves enough time to winkle out Blackheath II. Scott Meyer led the run feast with 78 as the home side amassed 248-7 in 48 overs. Ian Nolan (33) and the next five batsmen all reached double figures for Blackheath. Shane Carrington then roared in with 5-12 in six overs, but the visitors just held out at 131-9.
