LIPHOOK & Ripsley had a day to forget, especially the batsmen, as they crashed to 78 all out against lowly Bournemouth at Ripsley Park.

Liphook could not even offer the excuse of a difficult batting track. The Ripsley wicket was not a bad one. Rather, it was down to terrible shot selection and a lack of responsibility by any of the batsmen that saw the home side bowled out in only 29 over.

Opening bowlers Matt Jones and Jeremy Warner sliced through the top order and when talisman Suman Ganguly was caught and, four runs later, the in-form Dan Wrenn departed, Liphook were staring down the barrel at 56-6.

Luke Lee-Nutbrown and the tail offered some resistance, but at 78 all out, Liphook were some 60 runs short of making it a close contest. Jones recorded fine figures of 4-27 in his ten overs.

And it wasn’t plain sailing for Bournemouth who had their openers whipped out by George Neave, leaving them a nervy 14-2.

But Jake Hurley’s counter-attacking 33 effectively put the game to bed and Chris Bollom (20 not out) put the final touches to Bournemouth’s second win of the season.
