GRAFHAM & Smithbrook, already promoted from I’Anson Division Five, must have felt confident of another victory after posting 234-1 declared in 39 overs against bottom team Tongham II, with unbeaten centuries from Usman Hussain (102 not out) and skipper Neil Rolland (103 not out).

But Grafham had not reckoned on Tongham stalwart Scott Meyer, a known hitter for the first team, who came in at number 4 and hit a magnificent 164, including 26 fours and two sixes, before being bowled by Rolland. The next highest score was just 18, but the Tongham tail held together and number 11 and skipper, Paul Dyer, finally hit the winning runs in the 50th over. It had been an excellent game – and certainly one for the books.

Division Four champions Grayswood II drew with nearest rivals Puttenham II and were then presented with the Bob Burchett Shield by I’Anson secretary Gill Rooney.
