LONG-SERVING umpire David Head has been awarded the Hampshire NatWest OSCA (outstanding services to cricket awards) for officials and umpires.

He started umpiring at Grayshott Cricket Club in the 1970s, standing in youth and Sunday fixtures.

In 1989, David passed his umpire’s exam which, in those days, was a two-and-half-hour written assessment.

Once he had passed his driving test in the early 1990s, David joined the I’Anson umpires pool and still officiates today, as well as supporting Grayshott’s youth fixtures when works permits.
