Petersfield’s first team won by six wickets at home to South Winchester.
On a rainy day, returning stand-in skipper Henry Shore lost the toss at the Heath and was surprised to see the opposition skipper choose to have a bat.
Initially, this seemed a good call as South Winchester reached 40 without loss, but three wickets from the excellent Joe Clarke put the hosts well on top.
Further wickets from Shore, Frank Straw and Hari Walton saw the visitors fall to 135 for eight soon after drinks, aided by some very good catching along the way.
However, a superb ninth-wicket stand between Ian Heath (88) and Elliott Morgan (27 not out) saw South Winchester score 229 for nine and set Petersfield a target of 230 off their rain-reduced 40-over allocation.
Dave Marshall fell early in Petersfield’s reply, but Adam de Swardt and Alex Wilton brought the total to 90 just before drinks when De Swardt fell for 26.
Shore fell shortly afterwards for 14, which brought Clarke to the crease.
Clarke hit a superb 51 off 38 balls before falling with Petersfield requiring 18 runs for victory.
Archie Maclean (seven not out) immediately hit the ground running to help ease any nerves, and Wilton (107 not out) hit a four and a six to reach his century and seal the win.
Petersfield’s second team lost by eight wickets at United Services Portsmouth.
Tom Horwood (22), Ash Spencer (42) and Ted Troth (28) were the only batters to reach double figures as Petersfield were bowled out for 120 in the 31st over.
Steve Gibson (two for 24) took two wickets for Petersfield, but United Services knocked the runs off in the 28th over.
Petersfield’s third team crashed to a 175-run defeat against Purbrook’s third team.
Purbrook scored 302 for six and bowled Petersfield out for 127.
