ROWLEDGE beat an I’Anson Representative XI off the last ball of the game on Sunday.

The hospitality, as usual, was excellent on President’s Day at the Rec, but the cricket was competitive.

Rowledge, batting first in the 40-overs match, were 29-6 at one stage as Matt Hall (3-31) and Alex Marden (4-34) ripped through the top order, but were rescued by Sam Moseley (66 not out) and 15-year-old Ollie Baker (33) and recovered to total 165.

The visitors lost their openers cheaply to Shea Taylor (2-24) and only challenged the target thanks to a good innings from captain Nathan Phillimore (33) and a generous helping of 48 extras.

The I’Anson finally required three off the last ball. A leg-side wide was bowled, but last man Marden was also run out and Ben Wish’s youngsters squeaked home by one run.
