THURSLEY’S fine win over Blackheath II enabled Tilford II to go top of I’Anson Division Three.
Keith Tilson and Steve Fuller gave Thursley their customary good start, paving the way for Aaron Smallbone to hit a quickfire 66. The prolific Tilson was unbeaten on 87 when skipper Steve Wells called his side in at 223-5 from 45 overs.
Things got worse for Blackheath as Liam Larby struck in his first over. Aleem Fazal kept up his excellent form with figures of 8-3-19-5, but Blackheath finally put up resistance with a last-wicket stand between skipper Ed Allen and Ben Hodges. Tom Porter was finally called up and finished the game with his third ball.
Tilford II were given a good start by openers Adi Walker and Martin Cantwell, but then ran into trouble against Nick Fenton (5-29 in 10 overs) as Grayshott III fought back. The visitors were rescued by Hugo Young (50) and the late order and Grayshott were set 187 to win.
Neil Sampson (33) and Rohan Wills put their side in a decent position, but, yet again, Rick Austin (4-15) bowled a match-winning spell. He and Jack Cantwell (3-29) polished off the visitors for 123.
Tongham won a high-scoring thriller against Dogmersfield II by five runs. Tongham posted a healthy 208-9 from 45 overs, with Scott Meyer (87), Mathew Carrington (53) and Liam Gadd (31 not out) enjoying the run-fest.
But Dogmersfield can never be under-estimated and Khan (40) and skipper A Raza (60) led a bold attempt at the target. The visitors needed six off the final over with their last pair at the wicket. With his third ball, Matt Carrington bowled Shak whose spirited 34 had taken his side to the brink of victory.
Bramley drew with Peper Harow in another high-scoring game. Peper Harow totalled a formidable 247, thanks to a captain’s innings from Glenn Taylor who made 110 at the top of the order.
Bramley batted very consistently in reply, with eight players reaching double figures. Henry Turner top-scored with 35 in a total of 212-7.
Brook showed their batting strength at Hollowdene and racked up 260-8 in 45 overs against Frensham III, with half-centuries for captain Tom Williams (57) and Paul Challinor (63).
A Frensham defeat seemed certain as Jonathan King knocked over the top three and went on to take 5-16 in 14 overs. But number 8 Richard Elliot led a rearguard action with an outstanding 74 not out. The tailenders gave sterling support and Frensham escaped with a draw, finishing on 171-9.
Kingsley suffered a crushing home defeat to Wood Street. Dan Saunders (48) and skipper Josh Dobson (88) shared a fine partnership as the visitors posted a decent 179-5 in 46 overs.
Kingsley never got going in reply and suffered a dramatic collapse to Andy Chudley who took 6-8 in 6.2 overs. Kingsley all out for 60.
