Farnham CC ladies completed an impressive double with two wins in two days to move up to fifth in the I’Anson League table.

The team, who are in only their second year of playing, started by beating Frimley by 98 runs at Farnham Park on Sunday.

Farnham batted first and scored 147 runs for the loss of only two wickets from their 16 overs for a net score of 337.

Kelly Davis top scored with a hard-hitting 25, but there were contributions from all eight players including Claire Williams (19), Lorrie Manhire (16), Sharon Robinson (15) and Sarah Gudgin (13).

Farnham then put in a superb team performance in the field, allowing Frimley to score only 79 while taking eight wickets, to leave Frimley on a net 239.

There were wickets for Anna White, Williams, Manhire, Robinson, Gudgin and skipper Alex Turton.

Farnham completed the double the next day with a 57-run victory away to Frimley Phoenix.

Kelly Davis added another 25 runs – ably supported by Jenni Jenkins Balmer (23), Chris Brown (20), Roxanne Appleyard (18) and Anna White (13) – as Farnham scored 131 runs while losing four wickets for a net score of 311.

Another spirited performance in the field kept Frimley Green to 116 runs with eight more wickets leaving Frimley on 254.

Left-armer Roxanne Appleyard took a hat-trick, Chris Brown added a wicket and Davis impressively threw down the stumps twice for direct-hit run outs.

Jessica Faircloth took a catch and conceded only four runs from her two overs, while Anna White took two for seven in her three overs to move to the top of the league’s wicket-taking charts.

Skipper Alex Turton led an enthusiastic display in the field as Farnham showed the value of team work and supporting each other in the field to win a match played in a great spirit.

Farnham’s next match is home to Farncombe Ferns at Farnham Park at 2pm on Sunday, July 24.
