FARNHAM II have now lost their three opening games after winning promotion to the Surrey Championship 2nd XI Premier Division.
Ian Thorpe has been lucky with the toss, calling right for a third time, and he opted to bowl first in damp and blustery conditions at the Park. It looked a good decision as Dom Lloyd and James Jones bowled excellent opening spells and put Weybridge on the back foot at 36-1 after 15 overs.
But Tim Cross and Shane White then attacked the change-bowlers, adding 130 for the second wicket before Will Davies had White caught behind for 75 by Jonny Matthews.
Cross followed for 59 and Farnham kept chipping away. Peter Goldsworthy took three wickets and Thorpe picked up two, but Weybridge’s final 259-7 left the home side with a formidable task on a testing wicket.
And the total was put into perspective as Farnham slumped to 88-8 against the bowling of Masud Javaid, Niall Casson and Tanvir Asghar. Ollie Godden made 21 and opener Jonny Matthews battled away for 19 before being adjudged caught behind.
Thorpe hoisted Livett for a defiant six before being bowled for a defiant 21. Farnham all out for 111 in 42 overs.
