THERE was an unprecedented result to Farnham Road Club’s final Saturday ten-mile time trial before the series switches to Tuesday nights.
The three Blazing Saddles RT riders who had taken the first three places the previous week, returned to do exactly the same again. This time, Andy Langdown recorded 20mins 36secs, Tom Lane 20-52 and Darran Clare 22-21.
Fewer riders took part, with rain expected in the early morning, and 22 solo riders and one tandem pairing faced timekeepers Jim Brown and Ian Thomas.
Farnham’s fastest rider was Ian White in 22-58, with Chris Newman clocking 23-51 on a rare appearance. Tandem duo Robert Allen and Paul Charman recorded their fastest time of the season with 24-31.
Other Farnham times: David Clifford 25-52, Dave Welling 25-58, Roger Chapman 26-47, Steve Holloway 26-52, Huw Lloyd 27-29, Geoff Newman 28-22.
Quickest of the three lady riders was Virginia McGee (Charlotteville CC) in 27-12, followed by Jo Lister (Woking CC) in 27-44 and Farnham’s Deana Rice in 34-08.
The timekeepers were helped at the start by Jim Parker and Michael Rice.
