NUNEATON TOWN 2,
ALDERSHOT TOWN 1
NUNEATON may be famous for its historic silk industry, but this sow's ear of a match was rather more abrasive and agricultural in its nature.
After the flowing football which brought victory at Barnet just seven days previously, Aldershot were found lacking in the game's more earthy qualities on Tuesday night as Nuneaton exposed the visitors' soft underbelly.
A couple of crucial first-half errors ensured that Tristan Plummer's fine 84th-minute strike, and the long overdue resurgence it provoked, was too little too late.
"They were two poor goals to give away," said a frustrated Andy Scott. "We didn't do the basics right in the first half. Nuneaton do the basics well, there no frills but they're effective, and they punished us."
