BRISTOL Aztecs 51, Farnham Knights 55 (British American Football Premier Div). The Knights went to Bristol and gained sweet revenge for their earlier defeat when Aztecs scored in the dying seconds at Farnham.

Aaron Sekwalor ran for 425 yards and five touchdowns and passed to Stealey-J Wills for a 65-yard touchdown, helping the Knights secure a surprise win over Aztecs who recently beat the number two ranked side, London Blitz.

Sekwalor smashed his own Knights rushing record for a single game and the five touchdowns equals the record held by Kingsley Ejiogu and Benjamin Chuckwu-Onu.

Sekwalor’s tally for the two games against Bristol is 70 carries for 752 yards and nine TDs.

It also takes the young Knight beyond the 1,000-yard mark for the season.

It was not all about one player, though, and Farnham had to battle as a team to gain a hard-fought victory in a 106-point game, despite at one point trailing by two clear scores.

Ash-Lee James (his first game of the season) and Bart Bashary stood out in the Knights defensive backfield. Aztecs led 31-22 at half-time, but Knights came out fighting and pinned Aztecs deep in their own half in the third quarter.

At 35-31, Bristol’s lead had been wiped out and they would never regain it.

The Farnham defense was on fire and an eight-yard sack by Vasily Fedotov and two crunching gang tackles forced Aztecs to punt on their next possession.

Sekwalor’s fourth score stretched the lead to 41-31, but tension got to the visitors in the final quarter and the game was on a knife-edge as Aztecs closed to gap to 39-41

It took one play to settle the nerves and Sekwalor passed 65 yards to leading receiver Stealy-J Wills for a crucial touchdown.

Back came Bristol and Alex Reilly ran in for six points. The conversion would have levelled the scores, but Reilly gave away a penalty for over-celebration.

A vital third down catch from Michael Bradley-Banszki kept Knights on the drive and then Sekwalor raced 38 yards for his fifth score (55-45).

Joe Cotterill pulled back six points and Knight had to survive a dramatic onside kick attempt by Aztecs before they finally ran the clock down.

Farnham Knights will host South Wales Warriors at Farnham Rugby Club on July 17 (2-30pm).
