TWO members of Farnham Roller Hockey Club, 13-year-olds Lucy Collis and Hannah Sellars, were selected to represent England Youth Ladies as part of a squad of ten touring Portugal last month.

Portugal is one of the strongest roller hockey nations and the girls showed that England also have a bright future in the sport with some excellent results.

Over five consecutive days, England Youth Ladies played five games against Portuguese opponents, winning twice (5-2, 6-0), putting up stiff resistance in one draw, and losing the other two (1-3, 0-7). Hannah and Lucy both scored in England’s victories.

The trip followed on from England Youth Ladies’ success in Lisbon last February, with the team winning all their games. The Farnham pair were in the England squad and Lucy Collis was the second highest scorer in the tournament behind her team captain.

The successes have kept on coming for Farnham, with the U11s finishing third in the Cottenham Cup Tournament held in Cambridge last month.

Farnham RHC members range from those learning to skate all the way through to experienced players competing at top levels. They practice every week (during term time) on Sunday evenings at Farnham Sports Centre (5pm juniors, 6.30pm seniors).

New members are always welcome. To find out more about the club, visit the website www. farnhamrollerhockey.co.uk
