FARNHAM TOWN blasted out a warning to their Combined Counties rivals by hammering Frimley Green 6-1 in midweek.

New manager Tony Reid has made an immediate impact and his side cantered through a potentially tricky Premier Division South clash on Tuesday night.

The match had been switched to Frimley Green as The Memorial Ground was still saturated after the recent downpours.

The goals were spread around as Karle Andrews, Arsen Ujkat, Josh Ogunseye, Owen Dean, Kye Nash and Max Blackmore all found he target.

Reid said: “It was a good result but to be honest we could have scored more – we created so many chances we could have had eight or nine.

“But I’m not getting carried away. I’m looking for consistency with our performances. Everyone is enjoying themselves at the moment – the fans, the players, the committee – but we need to keep doing this.

“Only then, when we show that consistency, I’ll allow myself a cheeky smile after a good result.

“The last thing I will do is get carried away by one result. We have another game on Saturday and we have to maintain the work ethic we showed at Frimley Green.

“They were no pushovers – they were a big, physical side but, perhaps arrogantly, I always thought there would be only one outcome.

“We showed a lot of intensity and the players are buying in to the way I want to do things.

“We still need to tweak a few things – when we go forward we need to do it as a team, but it was good to see the old players and the new players combining so well.

“I was delighted to be able to bring on youngsters later in the game and it was great to see them grab their chances so well.

“Max was probably our man of the match, working so hard and pressing their players, but Josh impressed too and the midfield were good and the defence solid.

“Our build-up play could have been better, but I was very excited to see the youngsters coming off the bench and being fearless and running at their opponents.

“We had two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old coming off the bench and it is lovely to see them grasp their chance and enjoy their time on the pitch.

“They were perhaps apprehensive when I came in, wondering if they’d get a chance. But I love youngsters – they want to learn, they want to listen. Players like Owen, Kye and Olly Ryman really took their chance. Kye took on three players and put the ball in the top corner – he’s really got something. It’s great to have good young players to work with.

“I’m still looking at the players we have and getting to know them and what they can do. I’m meeting the under-18 and under-23 coaching teams to identify prospects and the pathways to the first team.”

Farnham travel to Fleet Town tomorrow (Saturday), and a week later fly to take on Jersey Bulls, one of the favourites for the title.

“Jersey are a good side and near the top for a reason – but they haven’t met me yet!” said Reid. “We like to play free-flowing football and to score goals – I’ve never known any other way than to attack teams. If they score two, we’ll have to score five – that’s always been my philosophy.

“I don’t know too much yet about any of the sides in this league but we don’t fear anyone.”
