Farnham Town extended their perfect start in the Combined Counties Premier Division South to 25 wins out of 25 with a 2-0 victory at Camberley Town on Saturday.

Manager Paul Johnson was not impressed with the state of the Krooner Park pitch but was happy to come away with the points.

He felt Farnham were spurred on to continue their incredible run by a combination of the fear of it ending and the desire to extend it.

Johnson said: “It’s a bit of both and they thrive on it. There’s definitely no pressure from me or the club. They broke the record and they just keep going. We just want to win the league as quickly as we can.”

Farnham were due to travel to second-placed Knaphill on Tuesday night before hosting Croydon on Saturday and Redhill next Tuesday.

Johnson added: “It’s the business end of the season now. On paper it’s a tough run-in against the top teams but we’ll see who’s available and go from there.”

Badshot Lea lost 1-0 at second-placed Marlow in the Isthmian League South Central Division on Saturday thanks to an 87th-minute goal from Naheer-Omar Nawaf.

Manager Gavin Smith said: “We had the better possession and we created some opportunities but they looked more dangerous. I was pleased with how we looked but we were lacking some quality in the final third. We just need to figure out ways to get better there.”

On Tuesday night Badshot Lea were due to play away to Ashford Town (Middx) in the league, and tonight (Thursday) they are in action again away to Metropolitan Police in the Surrey Senior Cup. Their hectic schedule continues with back-to-back league games against Northwood, at home on Saturday and away next Tuesday.

Smith said: “We just need to keep on doing what we’re doing. At the moment it’s a bit like early in the season when we were not getting the rub of the green or being clinical enough. But as long as we trust in what we’re doing I’m sure we’ll turn it round and start picking up the points again.

“We’ve played Metropolitan Police twice already this season. We drew 2-2 at home and 1-1 away and I thought we were excellent in both games, so I hope we can get what we deserve against them.

“But they let us have possession and are hard to break down, and hit us on the break. They set up well against us so we have to find a way to score.”
