Aldershot Town came from behind to draw 1-1 at home to ten-man Yeovil Town in the National League.

Slavi Spasov gave the Glovers the lead in the first half, but Michee Efete’s second-half equaliser earned the Shots a share of the spoils in front of a crowd of 2,146 at the EBB Stadium.

The Shots had the first chance of the evening in the sixth minute when Nino Adom-Malaki drove forward and laid the ball off to his right to Basil Tuma, whose powerful right-footed shot was deflected behind for a corner.

The visitors then went close three minutes later when former Shot Ryan Jones whipped in an inswinging left-footed corner from the right to Joe Gubbins, who rose highest and flicked his header wide of the far post.

Aldershot had the next attempt at goal on 11 minutes when Conor Lawless whipped in a free-kick from the left to Jacob Borgnis at the back post, who flicked the ball goalwards to Tyrese Dyce, whose header was claimed by Yeovil keeper Jos Barker.

The Glovers took the lead a minute later when Jones drove forward and showed neat feet before passing to Zain Westbrooke in the box, who squared the ball for Spasov to tap into the empty net.

Yeovil were reduced to ten men in the 29th minute when referee Niall Smith had no hesitation in showing Loick Ayina a straight red card for a strong challenge on Tuma.

The Shots nearly got back on level terms four minutes later when Dyce’s diagonal ball found Efete on the right-hand side of the box, and Efete fired a powerful effort goalwards which was tipped over the bar by Barker.

Shots boss Scott Davies made a tactical substitution on 35 minutes, with Alfonso Tenconi replacing Borgnis.

Aldershot almost equalised in the 43rd minute when Adom-Malaki whipped in an inviting right-footed cross from the left to Tristan Abrahams, who rose highest but couldn't quite get his glancing header on target.

The Shots had one more chance before the break in first-half stoppage time when Tuma did superbly down the right and whipped in an inviting right-footed cross to Abrahams in the middle of the box, whose header went just wide.

Aldershot had the first effort at goal of the second half on 51 minutes when Tuma cut in from the right and curled a left-footed effort goalwards which was well blocked.

The Shots won a free-kick in a dangerous position just outside the box six minutes later, but Abrahams’ left-footed effort went just wide of the right-hand post.

Davies made a double change in the 64th minute, with Hakeem Sandah and Brody Peart replacing Dyce and Abrahams.

Yeovil nearly doubled their advantage a minute later when Brett McGavin burst into the box and hit a low right-footed shot which was well held by Shots keeper Jonathan Macaulay.

Macaulay’s save proved pivotal as the Shots broke straight down the other end of the pitch and equalised on 66 minutes. Sandah and Adom-Malaki did well down the left before Adom-Malaki clipped an inviting cross to the back post which Tenconi helped back across goal before Efete got the final touch and bundled the ball home from close range.

The Glovers almost regained the lead in the 73rd minute when McGavin's free-kick was spilled by Macaulay, but Macaulay did well to get back up and scramble the ball behind for a corner.

The Shots nearly went ahead eight minutes later when Peart drove forward superbly and laid the ball off invitingly to his left to Sandah, but Sandah's right-footed shot lacked power and was comfortably held by Barker.

Davies made his fourth substitution of the evening on 84 minutes, with Marcus Wyllie replacing Tuma.

Both sides looked for a late winner, but honours ultimately finished even at the end of a competitive encounter.

Next up for the Shots is a trip to Barrow in the National League on Saturday, September 19 (3pm kick-off).
