Kanye Moyo’s stoppage-time penalty fired Badshot Lea to a 2-1 win at Alton in the Combined Counties Premier Division South.

The Baggies took the lead on seven minutes when Moyo ran forward unchallenged to score from the edge of the box.

The visitors nearly doubled their advantage on 32 minutes when Fareed Hakeem-Habeeb drove goalwards before unleashing a curling effort onto the bar.

The Brewers had a route back into the game when they were awarded a penalty. Matt Benham’s free-kick was flicked across goal by Ben Matthews and Jamie Phillips was brought down by Baggies keeper Jonas Cody.

Cody got a strong hand to Matthews’ 43rd-minute penalty, but it still found the corner to send the sides in level at the break.

Alton missed a plethora of chances in the second half, and were made to pay when Badshot Lea won a late penalty.

Hakeem-Habeeb nudged the ball round Alton keeper Tom Kelly and went down under the resulting challenge. Moyo kept his nerve to drill home the winner from the spot.
