ANOTHER disappointing home defeat for Badshot Lea ahead of a testing run of Combined Counties League fixtures.

Myles Henry scored the only goal of the game to send Bedfont Sports past the Baggies into a healthier mid-table position.

The game lacked any real quality from either side in front of goal and the Baggies, though they had some decent openings, failed to seriously test youthful keeper John Price.

Both sides improved in the second half and Badshot Lea should have taken the lead when they were awarded a penalty. But the usually reliable Mason Saunders missed from the spot and, soon after, Bedfont scored the vital goal, Myles cutting inside to beat Pat Kinsella in the home goal.

Badshot Lea 1, Colliers Wood 1. The Baggies hosted Colliers Wood, always difficult opponents, on Tuesday night and a late goal by Jacob Hawker earned them a valuable point.

Lea had Paul Coventry back to strengthen their attack, but it was Wood who took the lead on 22 minutes, thanks to another fine goal by the prolific Mario Embalo.

The home team were under the cosh in the first half and Wood should have increased their lead. But the Baggies came back with a vengeance in the second half.

Hawker’s 87th-minute equaliser was a scrappy effort, but Lea deserved it for their sustained pressure.
