SPELTHORNE SPORTS 3, BADSHOT LEA 2
DUE to the frost, only one of four scheduled Combined Counties Premier League fixtures went ahead on Tuesday night and there was no luck for struggling Badshot Lea who lost at Spelthorne Sports after twice being in front.
The Baggies led 2-1 at the interval, but a brace of goals from Lee Staples turned the game around and Spelthorne claimed all three points.
The game was allowed to go ahead on a frosty surface and with only four minutes gone, Jordan Stepney put the visitors in front. But the lead lasted only seven minutes, Lewis Taylor equalising with a free-kick from outside the area.
On the half-hour, Spelthorne conceded a penalty and Benga Ogunseye converted to put the Baggies ahead again.
But the game had become a lottery on the icy surface and Staples cashed in with two strikes to leave Michael Charles’ side with nothing to show for their efforts. But at least none of the players suffered serious injury on the hardening pitch.
Badshot Lea will welcome Bedfont Sports to Ash United’s ground this Saturday.
