FAREHAM TN 3, ALRESFORD TN 0
ALRESFORD lost further ground in the Sydenhams Premier League table with a second consecutive under-par performance.
The Magpies also had a player sent off for the second week running, with striker Ben White picking up a second yellow card early in the second half.
It all led manager Richard Luffman to tweet: ‘Saturday was the worst we have played in my 18 months at the club. We have now had two bad performances back-to-back.’
Fareham, on the other hand, are on a good run and finished comfortable winners at Cams Alders.
They got off to a dream start when, with just five minutes gone, winger Ashley Tattersall struck a scorching 18-yard volley that gave Dan Kempson no chance.
The Creeksiders doubled their lead on the half-hour. The pacey Matt Simm whipped in a dangerous cross and Scott Hamilton slotted home from a tight angle, with the Alresford defence in disarray.
White’s departure in the 53rd minute left the Magpies with a hopeless task and only some improved defending denied Fareham further goals.
However, deep into injury time, promising youngster Simm picked up a through-ball from Ashley Tattersall and burst into the box to clinically beat Kempson for Fareham’s third goal.
• Alresford needed to get their act together before the midweek meeting with formidable Hartley Wintney in the third round of the Hampshire Senior Cup, and then the league fixture at Brockenhurst on Saturday.
• On Tuesday (Dec 12), Alresford visit Hamble Club in the Sydenhams League Cup third round.
