BADSHOT LEA finished their Combined Counties Premier Division South campaign with an impressive 2-1 victory at Redhill on Saturday.

Danilo Cadete’s stoppage-time winner gave the Baggies the three points.

Nic Ciardini gave the visitors the lead in the first half, but Lucas Atkins’ equaliser meant the sides were level at half-time at 1-1.

The sides looked to be sharing the points until Cadete struck in the 94th minute.

The wins sees Badshot Lea finish their league campaign with 81 points.

The Baggies are fourth in the Premier Division South, but they will finish fifth if Jersey Bulls win their final game of the season against Fleet Town on Saturday.

Badshot Lea co-manager Gavin Smith said: “It was a typical end-of-season game with both teams going for it.

“There were a lot of mistakes made, but the pitch was not great and was very bobbly – which didn’t help.

“The game could have gone either way, but a lot of changes were made in the second half and the game became a bit disjointed and felt more like a pre-season friendly.

“We kept going though and when Danilo scored the winner the players celebrated like they really wanted it.

“Three games ago we set the players a target to win their last three games and reach 81 points. They have done that and it’s a good achievement.”

Next up for the Baggies is their Premier Challenge Cup semi-final at home to Combined Counties Premier Division North outfit Southall next Tuesday night (May 3).

And Smith is hoping his side can progress to the final.

“We’ll be going out to win the game and reach the final to give the club something to look forward to,” he said.
