GEOFF Chapple, former Farnham Town player and five-time winner of the FA Trophy as a manager, has been placed temporarily in charge of Woking, following the sacking of Anthony Limbrick.

A nine-game winless run in the National League has left the Cards 19th in the table, three points above the drop-zone.

Farnham man Chapple, 72, a former Woking manager, who is now on the board of directors, will take charge until the end of the season, working alongside Jason Goodliffe.

After playing with distinction for Farnham, Alton Town, Farnborough, Windsor & Eton and Woking, Chapple turned to management and lifted the FA Trophy five times in seven years, three times with Woking (1994, 95, 97) and twice with Kingstonian (1999, 2000). He also oversaw Woking’s famous 4-2 victory over West Brom in the FA Cup.
