SPELTHORNE SPORTS 2, FARNHAM TN 2

MORALE remains high, despite their predicament near the foot of the Combined Counties Premier League table, and Farnham gained a fighting point against a strong Spelthorne Sports side on Saturday.

Town were looking to bounce back after a disappointing midweek defeat. With the return to the club of goalkeeper Richard Ossai and the restoration of Sharif Yacoob to the starting line-up and new tactics in place, Farnham were a transformed team and deservedly took the lead on 21 minutes. Some great work from Yacoob laid a goal on a plate for Jack Dillon.

The dominant visitors had numerous chances to double their lead, but inexplicably found themselves level ten minutes before half-time when Daniel Brown tucked away a rare opening for Spelthorne. And within four minutes of the restart, the home team had the lead as Robert Smith punished some sloppy defending.

But new manager Emmanuel Boudine has instilled some self-belief into the squad and Town always looked more likely to score in the remaining time.

Within 15 minutes, it was 2-2. A trademark jinking run by winger Dillon ended with a blatant foul and Steve Ramsden drove home the penalty.

Town created further good chances, the best falling to Yacoob who missed two golden opportunities to clinch all three points.

Farnham’s Easter Monday home match against Camberley was called off and has been hastily re-arranged for today (Thurs), kick-off 7.45pm. Farnham visit AFC Hayes this Saturday.

Badshot Lea’s Division One match at Staines Lammas was postponed on Monday. The Baggies travel to Chessington this Saturday. On Wednesday last week, Badshot Lea won an all-action game at FC Deportivo, 6-5. Newcomer Dan Langford notched a hat-trick. Danny Turner scored twice and fellow substitute Brad Smith got the other goal.
