Farnham Town face an FA Cup replay after drawing 2-2 at Hellenic League Premier Division outfit Cirencester Town in their second qualifying round tie.

The Town led twice thanks to goals from Sam Evans and Rakish Bingham, but goals from Jamol Dare and Harlie Price earned Cirencester a replay in front of a crowd of 506 at the Talent Hire Corinium Stadium.

Farnham took the lead in the 17th minute when a well-worked corner routine saw Bobby-Joe Taylor whip in an excellent right-footed cross which skipper Ryan Kinnane heading down across goal for Evans to tap home from a couple of yards out.

The hosts got back on level terms nine minutes later when Dare headed home at the back post past Town keeper Michael Eacott.

The Town nearly regained the lead on 41 minutes when a quick counter-attack ended with Taylor finding Bingham, who drove forward and pulled his right-footed shot just wide of the far post.

The visitors went close again just before the break when Brandon Mason found Josh Tobin, whose right-footed effort forced Cirencester keeper Connor Johns into a good save.

Farnham manager Paul Johnson made a double change at half-time, with Billy Clifford and Darryl Sanders replacing Tobin and Taylor.

The Town had the first opportunity of the second half when they won a free-kick in the 49th minute, but Jack Spong sent his left-footed effort over the bar.

Farnham had another chance a minute later when Evans was played through on goal by Sanders, but Evans’ poor touch narrowed the angle and he fired his right-footed effort wide of the near post.

Johnson made another double substitution on 55 minutes, with Owen Dean and Louie Holzman replacing Evans and Sam Hutchinson.

The Town regained the lead in the 62nd minute when Bingham turned the ball home from close range.

Farnham nearly scored a third soon afterwards when Mason’s delivery from the left found Dean in the box, whose powerful header forced a superb reflex save from Johns.

The Town had another good opportunity to extend their lead when Dean tried to drink the ball over Johns, but his effort went just wide of the far post.

Cirencester equalised in the 78th minute when Price turned in a rebound after an excellent save from Eacott.

Farnham had a good chance to regain their lead shortly afterwards, but Holzman’s effort went over the bar.

The hosts then nearly went ahead for the first time when Price’s header slammed off the far post and landed safely in Eacott’s arms.

The Town pushed for a late winner and nearly found it, but Dean’s effort hit the post.

The visitors had the ball in the back of the net in stoppage time, but Sanders’ effort was disallowed for offside as honours finished even.

Farnham’s FA Cup second qualifying round replay against Cirencester will be played at The Memorial Ground on Tuesday, September 22 (7.45pm kick-off).
