The countdown is under way to the start of the new non-league football season.

Farnham Town have the honour of being the first side in action, as they take on highly-rated Jersey Bulls in the opening Combined Counties Premier South match of the season.

That takes place at The Memorial Ground next Tuesday (August 2).

Combined Counties new boys Alton will kick off the new season three days later, when they travel to play Portsmouth-based Baffins Milton Rovers – who play in the Wessex League Premier Division – in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup.

Badshot Lea play another Wessex League Premier Division side – Brockenhurst – in the FA Cup the next day.

Last season the Combined Counties League fixture computer did a fine job of ensuring local sides did not play at home on the same day. But fans will be spoilt for choice on Saturday, August 13 when the Baggies, Farnham and Alton are all at home in the league.

The league has released fixtures only up until the end of September – clubs are expecting to be issued the complete list very soon.
