Farnham Town have strengthened their squad with the addition of Kai Tanner.

Tanner progressed through Farnham’s under-18s, under-23s and first team before signing a scholarship with League Two side Sutton United in 2021. He suffered an injury while on loan at Corinthian Casuals, and has now returned to Farnham after getting back to full fitness.

Farnham manager Paul Johnson is delighted to have Tanner on board at the club.

“It was a no-brainer for us – Kai wanted to come back and it’s a win-win situation,” said Johnson. “He already knows some of the lads and is a good character to add to the group.”

Farnham’s attention now turns towards the FA Vase on Saturday, when Town will host Wessex League Premier Division high-fliers AFC Stoneham in the first round qualifying – and Johnson is looking forward to the game.

“It’s a tough tie for both sides as Stoneham are flying in the Wessex League and won 5-1 against Melksham in the FA Cup on Saturday, but we’re always confident,” he said.

Farnham will travel to Alton in the league on bank holiday Monday for the eagerly-anticipated A31 derby (11.30am).

“It’s a quick turnaround after the Stoneham game, but if we have to make a few changes to freshen it up we know we will still be strong and will be bringing quality into the side,” said Johnson. “We’ll have to make sure everyone is on it for the 11.30am kick-off – it’s not like the usual routine for a 3pm kick-off.”
