LIPHOOK, already through to the County Intermediate Cup final, knocked Locks Heath off the top of the Hampshire Premier League Senior Division by beating them 5-1 at the Recreation Ground on Saturday.

Steve Harding scored his 25th goal of the season after 12 minutes and although Bailey Barnes equalised for the visitors, Ali Gill and Oli Page found the target to put Liphook 3-1 in front. Tom Bedford scored twice in the space of eight minutes to put the result beyond doubt.

Sway continued their good run of form with a 3-0 win at Liss Athletic, the goals coming from Darren Ritchie, Jason Pretty and Mark Brading.

Clanfield lost 4-2 at home to Hayling United. Matt Rowland cancelled out Luca Williams’ early goal for Hayling, but a brace of goals from Matt Low put the visitors in charge after half-time. Williams added his second before Alex Shepherd made the score more respectable for Clanfield.

Lyndhurst signed off their season by winning 4-2 at AFC Petersfield and, temporarily at least, are top of Division One.

The game was virtually over inside the opening 20 minutes as the visitors raced into a 3-0 lead. Josh Bench beat the offside trap before calmly slotting home and strike partner Elliot Weaver scored a carbon-copy goal before Paul Abrahams converted a penalty for the third.

AFC Petersfield came back fighting and centre-half Ben Turk reduced the deficit following a free-kick.

However, Bench rifled home his second before half-time.

AFC were much improved in the second half and made a number of chances before Max Powell scored a neat goal to make it 4-2.

Lyndhurst are top on 41 points, but Netley Central are just two points behind with games in hand. Third-placed Four Marks also have games in reserve.

Headley had no game, but their reserves came from 2-0 behind to earn a 2-2 draw at home to Bush Hill. Veteran Richard McCann scored both the Headley goals.

Liss Athletic striker Josh Benfield tops the Senior Division scoring charts with 27 goals, two more than Liphook’s Steve Harding.

Lyndhurst player Chris Pye is the Division One top marksman with 23 goals.
