PETERSFIELD Town’s poor start to the Evo-Stik Southern League Div I Central season continued with a 6-1 thrashing at Arlesey Town on Saturday.

The Rams are third from bottom with just one win in seven matches. Dan Simmonds pulled one back after Arlesey had scored twice in the first six minutes. The home team were rampant in the second half and added four more goals, two in added time.

Alresford Town are getting into their stride after a shaky start to the season. The Magpies surged past Western League Division One side Chippenham Park in their FA Vase first qualifying round match at Arlesbury Park on Saturday, winning 5-1 with goals from Harry Davies, Aaron Blaxall, Steve Hall (2) and Tom Sands.

Alresford switch to the FA Cup this Saturday and a home match against Cadbury Heath (Western Premier League) in the second qualifying round.

First-round matches in the Puma Hampshire Premier League Cup were played on Saturday.

Ryan Blackburn scored the only goal of the game as AFC Petersfield won 1-0 at Upham.

Steve Harding equalised for Liphook in their away tie with Bush Hill. Liphook eventually came through on penalties, winning the shoot-out 5-4.

Four Marks lost 3-0 at home to Andover Lions.

In the Premier Division, Preston Tee put Liss Athletic ahead at Paulsgrove, but the home team won 2-1 after scoring twice in the second half.

Clanfield beat Infinity 3-1. Darren Ferguson equalised in the first half and late goals from Ross Caldwell and Mike Newman clinched the points.
