FARNHAM TN 1, REDHILL 0
FARNHAM made it seven points from their last three Combined Counties League games, but were made to work hard for victory by second-from-bottom Redhill at the Memorial Ground.
Redhill had spanked an under-strength Badshot Lea 6-0 in midweek and again they looked like a side who shouldn’t be in a relegation battle.
Farnham had to soak up some pressure in the first 20 minutes, but then settled down and created several good chances before the interval.
With Richard Ossai a reassuring presence in goal, Farnham defended well and, indeed, showed a real desire to succeed throughout the team.
And again it was Elliott Cardona who came up with the vital goal early in the second half.
Keeper Ossai launched a swift move on the left where Tom Smith and Jon Lancashire combined to good effect and the resulting cross picked out Cardona who placed the ball past Jidrich Vokaty, apparently with his thigh.
A valiant Redhill came back with some late pressure, but Farnham were never going to let the advantage slip.
“I’m proud of the whole squad at this stage of the season,” said manager Paul Tanner. “Most targets each month are being met and the lads give me everything they can. There is always a point when management, coaches and players need more support from within their own club. We have always had aims and this season they are being fulfilled.”
Farnham: Ossai, Meaton Whiddett), Graham, Wilson, Marker, Williams, Dillon, Thomas, Lancashire, Cardona, Smith.
