GARY Waddock’s first match back in charge in his second spell as Aldershot Town manager was marred by a serious injury during the opening pre-season friendly against QPR.

Ben Harrison, having a trial for Aldershot after being released by AFC Wimbledon, broke his leg minutes after coming on in a 50/50 challenge with Nedum Onuoha.

The young left-back was taken to hospital after treatment and it was a subdued crowd that saw the sides play out a five-goal encounter. Both clubs fielded different sides for each half and the Championship side came out 3-2 winners.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas scored twice for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s men after Olamide Shodipo had given them the lead.

New striker Shamir Fenelon, just signed from Crawley Town, equalised at 1-1 and substitute Guri Demuria scored Aldershot’s second goal.
