REDHILL 0, FARNHAM TN 2 (Combined Counties Premier Challenge Cup: 3rd Rnd)
FARNHAM Town had a good work-out in midweek after another postponement last weekend.
They controlled this cup-tie against struggling Redhill from the start, despite the distraction of a floodlight failure during the first half.
When play restarted, Farnham remained the dominant side, but clearcut chances were hard to come by and it was still 0-0 at the interval.
Eleven minutes into the second half, Town made the breakthrough. Matt Graham’s incisive pass enabled Mark Corbett to get round the back of Redhill’s defence before volleying home with his left foot.
Both teams defended well in general, but Redhill tired towards the finish and manager Paul Tanner sent Matt Glass on to test them with his extra pace.
Farnham now moved the ball quicker and finally killed the game off in the 72nd minute. A solo run by Glass ended with three defenders on the ground and the ball in the back of the net.
A fine all-round display by Farnham came at the cost of four injuries and Tanner was planning to field several reserves for the Southern Combination Cup match at CB Hounslow in midweek. Farnham travel to Knaphill on Saturday. On Tuesday, they host high-riding Camberley.
