WEYDON School Under-15s, beaten finalists in the ESFA PlayStation Schools U14 B Cup last season, are through to the semi-finals of the national competition again after winning their fifth-round match.

Playing their first home game in the U15 Cup this season, Weydon were up against Ravensbourne School from Bromley. After a goalless first half, both sides scored twice in the second half and it remained 2-2 after extra time.

There was still no separating the sides in a thrilling penalty shoot-out and so it went to sudden death.

Weydon held their nerve and squeezed through 7-6 to earn a place in the last four and an away match against Oxford Academy in early March – date to be confirmed.

Cardinal Heenan Catholic Sports College (Liverpool) and Stanley High School (Sefton) meet in the other semi- final.
